Hello! My name is Adhiti Parupalli, and I am a freshman (Class 2026) in Connecticut.
My love for art started from a very young age. I remember spending hours cutting up paper to create fake jewelry and using a tasty combination of cotton balls, glitter, and empty cupcake liners to create my very own limited edition cupcakes. As I ventured on into slightly more challenging artistic pursuits, I discovered painting and fell in love. There is nothing more relaxing than turning on an audiobook, brewing some herbal tea, and getting my art supplies out for a painting session. I love the fine details and soft strokes you can create in oil, the versatility of acrylic, the choice I get with gouache, and the unpredictability of watercolors. I find that painting not only gives me an outlet for creativity, but improves my mental and physical well-being as well.
Through my research, I’ve discovered the numerous benefits art has for both an individual and a community: improved memory, attention-span, problem solving abilities, and reduction in overall stress-levels. As a highschooler, I know how difficult it can be to balance school, clubs, and extracurriculars. I am grateful to have a way in which I can relax and calm my mind. I want to spread that to others. Art gives children a safe space for when they get older. It creates unity within the community. It fosters empathy between people and builds understanding into cultures. However, the aspect of art I am most fascinated by is how it can be used for creating awareness about social issues and pushing change towards them. That’s why I created Art to Awe - a platform where anyone, regardless of skill level or background, can tap into the power of art. I believe art is an accessible tool with numerous positive impacts, so why not use it? It has made a huge impact in my life for the better, and I hope that through Art to Awe, I can help others experience the transformative power of art and discover their own creativity and self-expression.
